Donald “Doc” Buller

Founder

Dr. Donald “Doc” Buller founded Bethalto Animal Clinic in 1976 and dedicated 30 years to caring for animals before retiring from full-time practice in 2006. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, he grew up alongside his two sisters and developed a lifelong passion for veterinary medicine and animal care.

Throughout his career, Doc enjoyed working with a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, cattle, pigs, and horses. His dedication and compassion helped build the strong foundation and trusted reputation that Bethalto Animal Clinic continues to carry today.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Doc enjoys duck and goose hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He also treasures spending time with his three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Doc’s legacy, passion, and commitment to animal care continue to be an important part of Bethalto Animal Clinic’s story.

Dr. Daniel Buller

Veterinarian

Dr. Daniel Buller has been part of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team since 2000 after graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. He proudly says, “Go Mizzou!” Before veterinary school, he completed his undergraduate studies at Lewis and Clark Community College and Eastern Illinois University.

Dr. Buller has special interests in internal medicine and anesthesia for cats and dogs. He enjoys helping pets stay healthy and comfortable while building lasting relationships with the families who trust him with their care.

Dori, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Dori has been part of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team since 2015. She graduated from Murray State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree focused on Animal Health Technology.

Outside of work, Dori enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Andrew, and their daughters, Juliette and Evelyn. Their family shares a home in Brighton with two dogs, Walter and Loki, and their cat, Gracie.

An avid gardener and plant lover, Dori believes caring for animals and plants is exactly what she was meant to do. Her compassion and dedication make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Melissa, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician and Inventory Manager

Melissa has been a veterinary nurse since 2013 after graduating from Hickey College. As the clinic’s Inventory Manager, she helps keep everything running smoothly while also providing compassionate care to patients and their families.

Melissa lives in Hamel with her husband, their dog Teddy, and their three sons. She loves getting to know clients and caring for their pets, and she looks forward to seeing familiar faces at the clinic each day.

Heather, CVT

Certified Veterinary Technician

Heather has been a licensed veterinary technician since 2009 after graduating from the Vet Tech Institute at Hickey College. She joined the Bethalto Animal Clinic team in 2023 and is proud to be part of such a caring and supportive group.

Heather lives in Alton with her husband, Cody, and their daughter, Madisyn. They also share their home with two cats, Mojo Jojo and Salmin.

In her free time, Heather enjoys playing bass guitar and video games. Her experience, compassion, and positive attitude make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Shelby

Veterinary Assistant

Shelby began her career in veterinary medicine in 2014. After stepping away from the field from 2016 to 2019 to serve in the military, her passion for animal care brought her back to veterinary medicine, where she continues to do what she loves.

She shares her home with her two dogs, Scout and Cyrus, and her cat, Sullivan, who definitely keep her wrapped around their paws.

Outside of work, Shelby enjoys spending time with her pets, family, and friends, and is always ready for a new adventure. Her dedication, compassion, and love for animals make her a valued part of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Bailey

Veterinary Assistant

Bailey has been working in the veterinary field since 2021 and is passionate about caring for animals and helping them live happy, healthy lives. She graduated from SIUE in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and is currently enrolled in an online veterinary technician program to earn her veterinary technician license.

Outside of work, Bailey teaches and choreographs for Dazzler Dance Company, a local competitive dance team. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family and relaxing at home with her husband, daughter, and their three dogs, Ricca, Wilbur, and Franklin.

Bailey’s lifelong love for animals and enthusiasm for veterinary medicine make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Kayleigh

Veterinary Assistant

Kayleigh has been working as a veterinary technician for over 8 years and enjoys caring for animals while supporting their families through every stage of care.

She lives in Staunton with her fiancé, their twin toddlers, and their dogs and cats. Outside of work, Kayleigh enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors whenever she can.

Her experience, compassion, and love for animals make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Apryl

Veterinary Assistant

Apryl has had a special connection with animals since childhood, earning her the nickname “Dr. Doolittle” from family and friends. Although she originally pursued human medicine, her passion for animals ultimately led her to veterinary care, where she has proudly worked with animals for more than 15 years.

Outside of the clinic, Apryl enjoys barrel racing and caring for her horses, dogs, barn cats, and the many farm animals she seems to collect along the way. She is also the proud mother of a beautiful daughter and energetic twin boys who keep life fun, busy, and full of adventure.

Apryl’s experience, compassion, and lifelong love for animals make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Rosa

Veterinary Assistant

Rosa has worked in both human and veterinary medicine since 2012 and is proud to have found her home at Bethalto Animal Clinic. She is passionate about caring for pets and loves being part of their health journey, always treating each patient like one of her own.

Outside of work, Rosa enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, their two daughters, and all of their pets at home. She also loves being with family and friends, riding her horse, and making the most of every moment in between.

Rosa’s warmth, compassion, and dedication make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Kathleen

Veterinary Assistant

Kathleen grew up in Wood River and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Animal Science from Illinois State University. She will be starting veterinary school at Lincoln Memorial University this fall as she works toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian.

Outside of work and school, Kathleen enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active at the gym, and trying new restaurants.

Kathleen’s passion for animal care and dedication to learning make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Christy

Receptionist

Christy has been working in veterinary medicine since 1992 and has been part of Dr. Buller’s team for over 25 years. After spending many years as a veterinary nurse, she now primarily works as a receptionist, though clients may still occasionally see her assisting in exam rooms.

She lives in Wood River and enjoys spending time with her two grown daughters and grandson. At home, Christy has one dog, Yeti, and four cats, including her two hairless Sphynx cats, Pearl and Elmer.

Christy loves summertime, sunshine, and relaxing by the pool with music whenever she’s away from the clinic. Her years of experience and caring personality make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Kim

Receptionist

Kim, affectionately known as “Kimmie” around the office, has been welcoming clients and pets at the front desk since 1988. Over the years, she has built lasting relationships with both coworkers and clients and considers many of them like family.

A lifelong local resident, Kim is happily married to her husband, Larry, and is the proud mother of two children, Carmen and Cole. At home, she shares her life with her two dogs, Noel and Rosie.

In her free time, Kim enjoys reading, relaxing with her dogs, and spending time with family. Her warm personality and decades of dedication make her a beloved part of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Sherri M.

Receptionist

Sherri joined Bethalto Animal Clinic in 2022, bringing with her many years of experience in veterinary medicine dating back to 1997. She especially enjoys educating pet owners and helping them provide the best possible care for their furry family members.

Sherri is married to her incredible husband, and together they have three grown children and four wonderful grandchildren. Their home is shared with two dogs, Jack and Gus, and two cats, Zip and Bart.

Outside of work, Sherri loves traveling, reading, photography, and spending time with family, friends, and her dogs. One of her recent bucket-list adventures included a trip to Alaska, where she had the unforgettable experience of walking near Coastal Brown Bears.

Sherri’s experience, warmth, and passion for helping both pets and their owners make her a valued part of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Sherry C.

Receptionist

Sherry has been a receptionist at Bethalto Animal Clinic since March 2017 and enjoys welcoming clients and their pets each day. She loves being part of a caring team and helping families feel comfortable during their visits.

She lives in Rosewood Heights with her husband and treasures spending time with their two daughters, son-in-law, two grandsons, and granddaughter.

Outside of work, Sherry enjoys being with family, playing with her grandkids, and working outdoors whenever she can. Her friendly personality and caring nature make her a valued member of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team.

Alex

Receptionist

Alex has been part of the Bethalto Animal Clinic team since 2022 and enjoys helping clients and their pets feel welcome during every visit.

She lives in Moro with her family and her three Mini Australian Shepherds. Outside of work, Alex loves spending time outdoors with her dogs and working on projects around the yard.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. We see patients by appointment to help provide timely, tailored care. Limited same-day urgent visits may be available depending on scheduling and case severity. Please call ahead for availability.

Are you accepting new clients?

At this time, Bethalto Animal Clinic is currently at capacity and not accepting new clients. We appreciate your understanding as we continue expanding our facility to better serve the community.

Do you perform spays and neuters?

Yes. We offer routine spay and neuter procedures for both dogs and cats.

Why does my pet need yearly exams if they seem healthy?

Many pets hide signs of illness very well. Routine wellness exams help us monitor your pet’s overall health and identify concerns early. Annual visits are also required to maintain a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship for prescription medications.

Do you offer emergency services?

During business hours, we may be able to accommodate urgent cases depending on availability and severity. Please call the clinic first.
