Our History

50 Years of Bethalto Animal Clinic

Celebrating Decades of Trusted Veterinary Care

For nearly five decades, Bethalto Animal Clinic has been part of the Madison County community, caring for generations of pets and the families who love them. As we approach our 50th anniversary, we’re proud to look back on the people, pets, and moments that helped shape our story.

From the clinic’s beginnings as a small family practice founded by Don and Kay Buller to the continued leadership of Dr. Dan Buller today, our history has always been rooted in compassionate care, trusted relationships, and a commitment to the community we call home.

A Look Back Through the Years

1976 | Where It All Began

Bethalto Animal Clinic first opened its doors as a family-owned veterinary practice dedicated to caring for local pets with honesty, compassion, and personal attention.

Continuing the Family Legacy

In 2001, Dr. Dan Buller joined the clinic after graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, continuing the tradition of family veterinary care started by his parents.

Generations of Local Families

Over the years, Bethalto Animal Clinic has cared for generations of pets across Madison County. Many families who first visited the clinic decades ago now bring their children’s and grandchildren’s pets to the same trusted team.

Growing with the Community

As veterinary medicine has evolved, so has our clinic. From updated technology and advanced diagnostics to expanded services, we continue investing in the future of veterinary care while holding onto the personal experience families know and trust.

Looking Ahead to the Future

As we celebrate 50 years in 2026, Bethalto Animal Clinic is expanding into additional buildings to better serve our community, including the addition of a dedicated comfort room for end-of-life care.

While our clinic continues to grow, our mission remains the same: caring for pets and the people who love them with honesty, warmth, and personalized veterinary care.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. We see patients by appointment to help provide timely, tailored care. Limited same-day urgent visits may be available depending on scheduling and case severity. Please call ahead for availability.

Are you accepting new clients?

At this time, Bethalto Animal Clinic is currently at capacity and not accepting new clients. We appreciate your understanding as we continue expanding our facility to better serve the community.

Do you perform spays and neuters?

Yes. We offer routine spay and neuter procedures for both dogs and cats.

Why does my pet need yearly exams if they seem healthy?

Many pets hide signs of illness very well. Routine wellness exams help us monitor your pet’s overall health and identify concerns early. Annual visits are also required to maintain a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship for prescription medications.
